I Embrace Getting Older

I am thankful for the many years that I have accumulated, the experiences I have had and the people I have encountered along my life’s journey. Each new season has been a teacher and has taught me much of the world, and more of myself. As I age, I realize it is my privilege and responsibility to share this abundance of knowledge with the following generations. I accept this role with honor and graciously relinquish the ongoing quest for the “fountain of youth” that the world has placed at such a premium. I acknowledge that each day that I have is a gift, each year a blessing, and each decade a miracle. I celebrate my more than half century, and am prepared and excited for the possibility of the other half. I glance lovingly at my past, remain hopeful in my present, and embrace with expectancy all my future holds. I recognize that getting older is a privilege denied to many, and therefore gratefully acknowledge the many years I have been given and anticipate the welcoming of many more to come.
