Change Your Story and You Will Change Your Life

Transformation Through Creation – Divinity in Motion

You are a creator. You have the power to create the life you love. If you’re not there yet, it’s time to change your story.

The best stories aren’t written easily. They’re wrought and fought into existence, day after day. But they are oh so worth it.

Change your story and you change your life.

Compelled to Help

All my life I’ve been driven to help people, especially to try to help them solve their problems. Friends would bring their struggles to me and I would spend countless hours listening, brainstorming, advising, and feeling their distress as my own.

I’ll never forget one such morning conversation in my early 20’s, of a friend lamenting some problem. My mind spun around that most of the day seeking solutions. The next morning I called to check on her and present a few ideas to help her, and she said, “Oh, I’m over that already.” ??‍♀️ ?

A Need to Vent

That was the beginning of my learning that some people just want an understanding ear so they can vent and then move on.

Addicted to Drama

Others are addicted to drama and live from one to the next in a kind of roller coaster of life. Some are attached to their stories… especially the ones of victimization, (real or imagined), from people, places, or circumstances.

Story and Identity

As a coach, the lesson came full circle when it was clear that those who were attached to their victim stories didn’t really improve. In fact, many of them would argue for why they couldn’t move beyond that story, and so they would be right. They were — in that determination — making it true.

Every retelling of the old story creates your past identity in the present.

Are You Ready to Move On?

Those who were truly ready to let it go and move on, made great progress. They had already suffered enough and were ready to let it go, put it behind them and turn to face a new future.

We’re creators, after all. We can change that future story unfettered by past ones.

“Too often our identity is about what happened to us. If we’re attached to our story it will continue to write our future. Or we can finish that book and move on.”

Clear Out the Old

The future won’t be new if we insist on dragging that baggage along with us. Time to clear out the old, do the laundry and pack lightly as we step into a new future, with hands free, arms outstretched and heart open to loving each day.

How to Turn the Day Around

Even when we don’t feel like it, we can turn the day around by focusing on the blessings of the moment and the vision we’re aspiring to.

You Will Find What You Seek

When you’re in a negative space, do you generally seek an empathetic ear or a way out of that state?

Both are available. One will move you further along.

Starting the day with intention, reflection and gratitude are the building blocks of a great day.

Pack for the Future

We don’t have to know where we’ve been to get to where we’re going. Similarly, we don’t have to drag our old stories into the new day… the new future.

Like packing for a trip, take only the garments that belong where you’re going, not those based on where you’ve been.

Let’s get on with this creative journey of the soul, shall we?

Writing Your Future

Yesterday we talked about changing your story (unless it’s a good story that’s working for you and helping you thrive). Even then, we all have some form of limiting belief to push through and beyond.

In order to change our old story, we need to write a new one.

Writing our future is a big responsibility; easier to abdicate to the dominion of others and circumstance.

But that is the way of the past. Today… now… in this new age humanity is moving into, we are all to become awakened leaders of one first… leading ourselves into the brightest future we can conceive.

“Write your future with the pen of passion and torch of action lighting the path of purpose.”
