Belonging is a lifelong process of building relationships based on trust, consistency and accountability within individuals and groups- Carley Hauck
It has taken some time to find my place in this world. There have been numerous times, places, people and experiences that have left me feeling excluded and unaccepted. It would be easy to blame this on the cruelty, exclusiveness and cliquishness of others, but the truth is that most of my feelings towards alienation are my own. My own feelings of inadequacy and unworthiness flowed freely through my mind causing me to reject myself and only confirm what others might say or do. As I have begun to love myself and respect who I am, I have attracted people to my life that share the same intentions and ideals, and I have grown in intimacy and relationship with them to a place of belonging. I have also evolved to see my own value and worthiness so the rejection of other persons and groups does not leave me devastated. I no longer seek acceptance from others. I now choose to share my whole self with others, and in this I have found, not only my tribe, but that I belong to my self.
I am a lover of all things creative and beautiful. I enjoy nature, art, and things of the heart. I primarily express this love through writing, photography, and watercolor. I want to share my love of these things with all who are willing and wanting to receive them.
