Nobody’s goals panned out in 2020. None of us are where we thought we’d be by now when casting hopeful sights onto the amazing round number of 2020. However, we CAN be working on our goals for 2021.
Where are you in planning your goals?
Perhaps your answer to some of these questions comes up short of where you wanted to be? If even the title of this post causes you to cringe, that’s understandable, and it’s remedial. Now is the time to reorient to your goals for 2021.
Reset, Refresh and Refocus on Your Goals for 2021
- Step back, assess and adjust whatever you need to.
- Take a deep breath, stretch, dream, vision and start a fresh list.
- Now is the time to create and recommit to your goals.
- Now is the time to pick up speed.
The major reason for setting a goal is for what it makes of you to accomplish it. What it makes of you will always be the far greater value than what you get.

Setting Annual Goals
Where do you want to be a year from now? No matter where in the year you are at this moment in time, today, is the first day of a new year for you.
The new year begins here… now. Getting off track is normal. Getting back on track is too.
The thing about working on your goal planning is how that very process helps you grow in your ability to become better at setting and achieving your goals. The more progres we make, the more we pick up speed and stamina to do more.
Goal setting is about vision, planning, action, tracking, testing, and tweaking.
Setting Daily Goals
To set just and do one goal each day, will help you get more done and be closer to accomplishing your goal/s for the week. If you’re just getting started with goal setting, and monthly and quarterly goals feels overwhelming, you can ease into it by simply starting with daily goals.
If you need more on setting daily goals you can dive into that here.
Setting Weekly Goals
After a week or two of setting daily goals, you can expand into setting weekly goals, then break that down into daily tasks.

Goals Planner
If you’re not tracking your goals with any system, such as our 90 Days Goals Journal, then you need to. Even recording your daily goals on a Google or Word doc will help.
Whatever system you choose, what’s most important is that you’ve got to get your goals out of your head and onto paper. You can also find a number of great goal setting templates available online for free, or our free 30 day Goals Journal pdf.
Whatever you do, don’t overthink things. Don’t feel like you need to have the perfect plan all figured out. Goal setting is a work-in-progress, especially at first. As with anything, the more you do it the better you get.
You want your good habits to become so habitual and routine that they become second nature.

The 30-60-90 of How to Break Down Your Goals for 2021
Setting macro goals is just the first layer of goal setting. Once you have those, it’s time to break your goals down further. There is no right or wrong way to stage your goals. Many planners will walk you through their process, in ways that will help you define yours. Below is how we break down our goals process.
90 Day Goals
When it comes to setting your annual goals, consider where you want to be, have, or have achieved in a year’s time. Then set about identifying the top things you can do over the next 90 days that will bring you closer to that goal.
That begins the development of your 90-day goals.
30 Day Goals
Identify 3-6 bigger tasks, or chunks of tasks that comprise the steps necessary to achieve your focus goal/s for this quarter. Those become your 30 day goals.
Where do you need to be in the next 30 days in order to reach your 90-day goal/s? Break down what needs to happen each week, progressively, to help you reach your monthly goal/s.

Weekly and Daily Goals
Now you’re getting into the nitty-gritty of weekly and daily goals. Remember, goals are your destination. Actions are the steps that get you there.
- Now further delineate what you need to do each week to arrive at your monthly goal.
- And then identify what you need to do e1ach day to arrive at your weekly goal.
If you work the plan, the plan will work!
