Love What You Do When You Can’t Do What You Love

Spread the love

Love what you do, when you can't do what you love. #LoveWhatYouDo #DoWhatYouLove

If you haven’t landed that dream job yet, don’t fret, for the jobs we don’t love are bootcamp to get us in shape for work we do love. However, the most important life lesson is that even if you can’t do what you love, you can always learn to love what you do. Truly.

If you’re struggling to cast your sights on your hopes and dreams for the future amidst all the worry and uncertainty in the world today, that’s normal. When we’re in the middle of a long-lasting rainy season, it can be hard to imagine a sunny day. Yet no storm lasts forever, and those sunny days will return and the topsy turvy world will be righted again.

But how do you transform the months of jobs and tasks you don’t love into something you enjoy? The process of transformation begins with what you focus on.

Focus on the Future You Wish for

What you can do now. Until you achieve your dream, continue to energize the future you wish to live, while working daily toward that. No matter how small a step, there’s always something we can do now toward creating the future we wish to live in the present.

The most important thing you can do? Is to be the person you wish to be now. Not what you wish to have… where you’d rather live… who you’d rather be with, but you… the kind of person you aspire to be… the vision of yourself at your best and most fulfilled.

That’s where the passion is. There you’ll find the love .

When you bring love with you, you’re bringing your best self, and that self can absolutely love whatever it is that you’re doing.

You can be the person you wish to become, now. Don’t wait for some day. Someday is here now, this moment in eternity.

The more we love what we do, the more we also get to do what we love.

Our Dreams Are About Who We Are Becoming

Ultimately, our dreams are more about the kind of person we wish to be and the experiences we wish to have than about the things or jobs we think we want. That’s worth reflection, for if we probe what’s behind our current wish list, goals and dreams, inevitably, it has to do with how it will make us feel.

Who we wish to be… to grow into, is about how we will feel about ourselves by becoming that vision. So if we start working with those feelings from the inside out, we’re creating that life within, and whatever we’re building within us is destined to flow out of us, not because of the circumstances but in spite of them.

The feelings we enjoy from our achievements and victories, good work and contribution, learning and growth inevitably outweigh and outlast the fleeting pleasures. That and love. Love and connection is a part of any meaningful experience more than anything material or circumstantial.

Because here’s the thing: If we were saturated in living our dream in all its glory, the ultimate joy would not come from places and things or even people. Those all help us celebrate and enjoy, and certainly, the people we love are essential for a happy and balanced life.

However, as loved ones come and go, and life goes on, we do not lose the love, for our joy and love live within us.

True happiness — that deep and abiding joy — wells from within in response to invocation and avocation. The love within us expands to meet our expressing love and gratitude.

The ultimate success in life is being at peace within ourselves when we’re alone, quiet and naked before our conscience.

To Live in Love

To be love, is to fill our hearts with love for ourselves, each other, for humanity and for creation. It is to see love… express love and be love.

Our ultimate peace is not in doing what we love, but in loving whatever it is we’re doing, for that is the one thing within our control. We cannot always do what we love… but we can find a way to love whatever we do, wherever we are, for after all… there we are.

Easy to do? Hardly. Possible? Absolutely. And hard gets easier with practice.

So in times of constriction… let us expand our hopes and our hearts. Let not fear reign, for what will be will be, so let us choose to travel through life with love, optimism and hope.

“Let’s be the Johnny Appleseed of hope, planting seeds of kindness and optimism wherever we go in whatever we’re doing.”
~LeAura Alderson, writer, editor, creator®

To Create Love

To create, is to love… so let’s bring more love to life by creating positivity for ourselves and those around us. The artist’s way is to create beauty where it is not and to bring color and creativity to life.

To love, is to create beauty and positivity.

So when it is we cannot do what we love, we absolutely can find ways to love what we’re doing. How? By expressing love wherever we are, because love is the core of our being. Love is our birthright and our destiny… our north star home.

We no longer need wait for love to happen through external circumstances. Instead, the more we express love by our thoughts and actions, the more love will flow through us.

To love, is to create. And to create, is to love… to bring love to life.

Better to Be Happy

Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, it’s far better to choose to be happy. You’ve probably heard these quotes or some variation of them.

“Wherever you go… there you are.”

“The one thing all your relationships have in common, is you.

Right With the World

When we’re right with ourselves, we’re right with the world, no matter the external circumstances.

Joy… that sustaining, overflowing cup of happiness, is an inside-out deal. It is not based on circumstance, but on us and our relationship with ourselves.

The relationship with yourself is based on how much you’re living according to your internal blueprint for your life. The closer you get to that the happier you become, and it all begins with steadily living in accordance with your vision for yourself first and foremost.

Self confidence is the process of keeping the promises that you make to yourself.
~Ed Mylett, magnate, author, coach, speaker, b.4/27/1971

To better orient toward your present and future self, ask questions, then listen to the answers as they bubble to the surface of your conscious mind.

“What is my vision of the person I wish to be?”

Whenever Faced with a Decision or Opportunity, Ask:
What choice, action or decision, will move me closer to my vision self?”
Then… go do that.

Love Begins With Love

Loving yourself and being at peace within, begins with caring. It is in caring for others that love is born and nurtured. It is in caring for ourselves… nurturing our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health that we come to love ourselves in a way that brings peace and joy.

The Most Powerful Tools

To build a bridge is to begin construction on both sides of the chasm simultaneously.

Our goal is on the other side of the chasm from where we are. We begin building where we are with what we have.

The two most power tools? Creativity and enthusiasm. Creativity and enthusiasm are almost magical in their ability to transform, renew and regenerate.

We build the bridge toward our dreams by the enthusiasm with which we live our lives, wherever we are and whatever we’re doing.

Bring It!

When we cannot be doing what we love, we can bring love and enthusiasm to whatever we’re doing.

And… as we create daily from where we are with what we have, the bridge is being built on each side… our future goal is a reflection of our present effort.

As we build daily the universe echoes that effort.

Our actions here are building our present and our future simultaneously, even when we can’t see it or imagine it. Even when the way is obscure.

We are not our tasks or activity. We are what we bring to it… to any “it” that we engage.

“It isn’t about what we do, it is about what we bring to whatever it is we do.”
