Daily Success Comes from Daily Doing

Spread the love

The fastest way to daily success is through setting daily goals and working them diligently and consistently.

Momentum is Magic

It’s not a mystery. Yet the results, when measured over time, can seem magical because momentum is powerful. Daily success comes from daily doing.

When you treat your art with a professional attitude and show up daily to create, your creativity and skills multiply and flourish and opportunities open up.

Imagine. If you create just one thing per week for 25 years. That’s 1,300 works of art.

Amy Brown had created over 2,000 by her 26th year of doing art. So this is doable.

Artist Goals

If you start now creating daily with a goal of one completed creation per week, by the end of one year, that’s 52 works of art. What if each piece sold for just $100…?

Sure, at $5,200, that’s not enough to live on, but it’s a nice supplemental income from doing what you love, right? I mean, you could buy a lot of art supplies with that! And that’s just an easy calculation using a modest average. Over time, as your skills and productivity increases, so too will your creations and the income from them.

What if you took yourself and your art seriously, and treated it as a profession? Chances are you might even be able to complete one work of art per day!!

Others have, and if others can, you can, if you decide to… if you want to… if it’s important to you.

When we start thinking seriously about our craft and set daily goals, we pick up the pace with greater purpose and productivity.

Writer’s Goals

Maybe Two Books per Year…? One Short Story per Day?

If you’re a writer, your goal might be 500 words per day x 5 days, (allowing 2 days a week off). 500 Words per day for 5 days equals 2,500 words per week. Multiplied by 52 weeks, that’s 130,000 words for the year, which could also be TWO BOOKS!! [1]https://www.megcabot.com/about-meg-cabot/frequently-asked-questions-getting-published/

Imagine being a short story fiction writer with 25 published books in one year?!? That gives you one week to write it and a week to get it published.

How Many Words for Blog Articles?

  • Medium articles average 2000 words
  • Long articles average 5,000 words

According to a Medium.com study, the ideal length of articles based on tracking reader habits is 1,600 words and takes 7 minutes to read. The average reading speed is 250 words per minute.

How Many Words for a Book?

  • 250-300 words per page in 12 point font
  • 55,000 for 200 a page book (size of the average teen or young adult book)[2]https://www.megcabot.com/about-meg-cabot/frequently-asked-questions-getting-published/
  • 100,000 words for a 400 page book (average adult book is 90-100k words)

See… when you break BOOK down into words and pages, it’s doable, one word, one page at a time. Yes, you can!

It’s basic physics: The more you do the more you can do.

Success Multiplied

What if you created just one thing per day for 25 years? Let’s consider a 350 days a years, subtracting some vacation time. So at 350 days x 25 years, that’s 8,750 pieces of art, or articles, or pages in books, or products developed from an idea a day.

If your goal is health, it’s the same thing… the same process to wellness. Adding in just one positive habit will improve your health. If that one positive habit replaces a negative and destructive one, your progress over time will be significant. And so it is for your creative endeavors.

Daily Success Comes from Daily Creating

Creativity is an energy that needs to be poured into form—into the form that you give it—in order to come to life. When you cultivate the daily discipline of creating your art and bringing your work into the world, you create a structure… a container for distributing creativity.

You can then pour your ideas, into whatever form you wish them to become. By cultivating the habit of creating daily, your ideas will be there waiting for you to bring them to life each day.

Ideas want to be birthed into being, so they will flock to those who are most prolific. To create great things, you must create daily.

Daily success is comprised of the discipline of daily doing.
