Each day is a new beginning… a new opportunity to create your day.
“Have a Nice Day!” Perhaps there’s more to this well-meaning but stale American phrase. The saying isn’t “Have a nice day if things go your way.”
Rather, the onus is on us. Each day is a new beginning, a new opportunity to strive for excellence, to find joy, and to create your day your way. To choose to have a nice day, come what may.
Don’t let the pitfalls of the past weigh you down. If yesterday bombed, you have today. More importantly, you have this moment in time. Don’t wait to see how your day is going to go… for your day to happen to you.
You are a creator and it’s your day. Don’t wait for your day to “happen” to you. Set goals and make them happen.
“Happen to your day.”

Create Your Day and You’re Creating Your Life
As creators, we understand creating art… creating business… and bringing our ideas to life from the inside out. We understand that before we had the idea and created it, it didn’t exist.
No matter what happens in life, we create the outcome of our experience by how we respond to it, no matter what happens. We are at choice and how we choose to respond makes all the difference in our experience of any event, and transforms the outcome. It’s the same for our day.
It’s the same for our life.
Lay out the life you want to have, and begin planning the steps needed to bring that about. Each day do at least one thing toward your vision, and by year’s end, you’ll be well on your way.
More importantly, lay out the profile of the person you wish to be in your highest vision of yourself. Then become that now, through each choice you make and action you take.
We choose what kind of day we want to have and then we make it happen. It’s the same for our life.
“As creators, we create our state in the choice of each moment.”
~LeAura Alderson, iCreateDaily.com®
Failure is Not a Bad Word
It’s how we learn. The great thing about falling is that getting up takes muscle. Getting up makes us stronger. So does failure, if… if you leverage the lesson and learn, you grow stronger and more resilient, and that’s a good thing!
To create your day to be the best it can be, start with the one thing you need to accomplish most today.
Schedule it, do it, then move onto the next thing. Setting daily goals and sticking to them is one of the simplest yet most effective ways to create a day you will enjoy.
Don’t wait to for your day to happen to you. Happen to it. It’s your day.

Do What You Gotta Do
What if what you have to do isn’t what you want to do? That’s normal; it happens all the time, right? No one loves doing laundry, but we all enjoy clean clothes. No one loves doing the dishes, but we enjoy eating and a clean kitchen.
If we don’t do the “have to’s”, we can’t enjoy the “want to’s.”
~LeAura Alderson, iCreateDaily.com®
Gratitude for the Blessings
Wherever you go and whatever you do, bring love with you; bring joy with you and you will enjoy the moments, whatever they bring. The number one way we’ve found for expanding love is gratitude. To be grateful for clean clothes, helps us to love the fact of the privilege of the washing machine and dryer.
All the many “don’t want to’s” are put into perspective when we no longer have so many of them.
We never think to appreciate electricity, until the power goes out, or running water, until it stops working. So simply remembering the many blessings in each day, helps us appreciate our day—and all that’s in it—as a blessing.
Gratitude is so profound for personal transformation that we created a Gratitude Journal.
Love isn’t a thing you do. Love is a state of being you imbue.
“Choose Joy. Choose Love. I mean… what alternate state would you seek to dwell in?”
~LeAura Alderson, writer, editor, creator iCreateDaily.com®
Choose Joy
When you consciously decide each day to choose love and choose joy, you will have more of that in your life. It’s really such a simple principle, that it’s easy to overlook, but it works.
Choose love… to see and respond through a filter of love and Love will visit you more often. Choosing love becomes a habit. Finding the joy becomes a habit. Good habits become like good friends… always there for you, and both contribute to your creativity, and vice versa.
“When you can’t do what you love, then love what you do.”

Protect Your Morning
If start your day with a full slate of tasks to do to achieve your goals, then start there. Don’t allow social media, interruptions and email to crowd out your morning. That’s your time to do what most needs to be done.
If you relegate the best hours of the day to other than your primary goals, it can leave you feeling frustrated, tired, overwhelmed and even out of control of your life.
The inbox is nothing but a convenient organizing system for other people’s agendas.
~Brendon Burchard, author, coach, speaker
Protect Your Time ~ Protect Yourself
Even if you’re enjoying interacting with friends and associates online, if that’s not on your goals list for the day, (or for that time of the day), then don’t do it yet. You cannot fully enjoy the moment when what needs doing still hovers in the background, like an annoying mosquito buzzing around your ears.
The weight of goals not done gets too heavy to bear if we continue to ignore the essential for the non-essential.
“Do what you gotta do, so you can do what you wanna do.”
~Denzel Washington, American actor
Yes You Can! Increasing Your Capacity
Distractions not only derail you, but allowing them while you have other work to do adds an extra drain to your brain power. The background “noise” of being off track occupies your awareness and saps your energy.
Each thing not done that should be, is an attention unit occupying resources in your brain. The tension and stress of too much to do, stimulates the release of the stress hormones. Stress diminishes the brain’s ability to function and leads to fatigue, irritation and frustration.
Happiness is doing what you know you need to do.
When you’re off track from purpose, you lose:
When you get the stuff that must be done, done first, you’re better able to create your day in your way. In fact, working hard to accomplish your goals actually increases you capacity and your energy.
Working hard to accomplish your goals increases your capacity to do more, be more, have more.
~LeAura Alderson, iCreateDaily.com®
In the Direction of Your Dreams
Notice, that quote says, “Working hard to accomplish your goals…”. Hard work alone can just leave you bereft of energy. Hard work that is purpose directed and goal focused, generates energy and increases your capacity.
“We do what we have to, so we can do what we want to.”
~Denzel Whitaker; character – James Farmer, Jr, The Great Debaters movie
The Day is the Way™
Many of the “great” creatives, from past and present, attribute their success to daily habits. Each step towards your goal, done daily, even if it’s just 15 minutes organizing your space, helps create the habit of momentum that feeds your artistic flow.
Pros show up even when the going gets tough, and instead of “waiting” for the flow to arrive, they create it. Daily. And this… this becomes their flow.
Pros create flow through daily practice.
~LeAura Alderson, iCreateDaily.com®
Progress not Perfection
Whatever you’re working on does not have to be your next masterpiece. Better that you get better through creating daily over time. The more you produce, the more progress you make.
There’s a popular story published in the book Art and Fear, of a pottery teacher who separated his students into two categories. One group was told to work on just one project, making it perfect. The other group was told to produce quantity (not focusing on quality). Can you guess who produced the best AND most work?
The second group.
It’s the process of showing up each day to do your work that makes all the difference. Pursue progress over perfection.

Create Your Day and You Create Your Life
Don’t let your day “happen” to you. Happen to your day. Choose it and create it. Choose who you wish to be, in your heart… in your soul… in each day, then bring that vision to life as only you can. Today.
If you want a delicious meal for dinner, it doesn’t just happen. You plan it, shop for it, and prepare it before you can enjoy it. Then you clean up from it and update your shopping list for the next time. It’s the same for the kind of day you wish to have.
Goal planning and implementing works.
Recipe for a Good Day
Write up your recipe for a good day. What attitudes do you wish to hold and emotions do you wish to feel? What creativity to engage and accomplishments done will leave you feeling content with your results for today? Write those down as ingredients to a recipe for a great day today, then get cooking!
Whether it’s a literal recipe for a meal, or, assembling the things you’d need for pursuing your craft, or achieving your goals, the concept is the same. Your goal is your meal… your art… your book… whatever your vision and aim.
Your actions and choices are the ingredients that create the outcome for a well lived day.
Today’s Painting – Recipe for a Painting
To bring the analogy back to the painting theme if you’re a visual artist, you can view your day as the canvas. Visualize the day you wish to have and bringing that to life in a drawing or painting. Then amass those things that will help you paint it into being as you would envision it.
Today’s Story – Recipe for a Story
If you’re a writer, you can do the same thing with words. Envision your story for today, then write it into being and follow that script!
Imagine yourself at day’s end with your goals for today achieved. Then imagine that for the year; a year of daily doing that leads to your goals fulfilled.
Manifestation Through Creation – the Creator’s Advantage
You can do this literally and/or metaphorically. If you have the gift of visual artistry or wordsmithing, then it’s a great way to practice manifestation, beginning with bringing your vision to life in art or story. Then… replicate that concept to your actual day. The template for creation is the same, although the mediums vary.
“It’s practical magic… the alchemy of creative energy channeled into purpose, beginning with the purpose of your day.”
~LeAura Alderson, writer, editor, creator iCreateDaily.com®
Look to This Day
Many folks silently starve themselves of the peace and contentedness that is waiting in every moment, convinced that it can only be experienced once a group of external pieces falls into place.
Why can’t we be fully alive and activated right NOW?
~Nick Polizzi, founder – TheSacredScience.com, film director, author
Look to This Day Poem
Look to this day,
for it is life, the very breath of life.
In its brief course lie
all the realities of your existence;
the bliss of growth,
the glory of action,
the splendor of beauty.
For yesterday is only a dream,
and tomorrow is but a vision.
But today, well lived,
makes every yesterday a dream of happiness,
and every tomorrow
a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day.
~Kalidasa, Indian playwright, poet, c. 4th–5th century AD
