Positive Intentions Are Powerful When Followed With Positive Actions

Positive intentions won’t get you where you want to go. If you have big goals it will take an intensity of focus and positive actions done daily.

Albert, Joan, & Leonardo

These three weren’t born in particularly special or extraordinary circumstances. Their actions set them apart and forged their remarkable futures.

Albert Einstein

Einstein may or may not have been born a genius, but what’s certain is that he became one because he was always inquiring, curious and obsessed with learning. He also didn’t accept the status quo and questioned what didn’t make sense and obsessively pursued better answers.

Einstein wanted to understand how matter behaves and why. He came up with the groundbreaking E=mc2 equation because he was fascinated with matter and energy, and the physics of time and space, his entire life.

Joan of Arc

Joan was born eager to do good and please God. She was obsessively focused on purity of spirit, dedication to her passion and doing God’s will. She devoted her entire (and tragically short) life to this calling. And despite her unthinkable ending, she accomplished her mission and lived her passion.

Leonardo Da Vinci

Da Vinci was born under average and even humble beginnings as the bastard son of an unwed mother. What set him apart was his persistent and relentlessly inquiring mind, studious observation skills and consistent practice and experimentation.

Da Vinci recognized that the constraints of a disciplined approach produces more than a free-flowing freedom. Indeed, Leonardo was known as much in his time for what he did not finish than what he did.

Einstein, Da Vinci, Jeanne d’Arc… these three had more than positive intentions, and it made all the difference for them. So it can for us.

Born or Made?

It’s not what we’re born with, it’s what we do with what we have. The more we do with what we have the more we gain and are able to do.

Sure, there are child prodigies and those who evidence incredible talent in certain areas from a very young age, such as (in current times) Karolina Protsenko, Angelina Jordan, and Akiane Kramarik, Gary Vaynerchuk, and so many other extraordinarily talented creators. These are just a few that come immediately to mind.

One thing all such success stories have in common, likely without exception: is they’ve each focused with obsessive mental focus on their passion for many years.

10,000 Hours

Author, Malcolm Gladwell, introduced the 10,000 hours to mastery concept in his popular best selling book, Outliers, The Story of Success.

Behind each of those innately gifted individuals, are tens of thousands of hours of practice. It’s probable that each of them invested equal or more than the 2,000 hours per year of a full time job, in developing their craft. It’s easy to work hard when it’s something you love doing... that you’re compelled to do from an inner aspiration driving you..

If you’re not passionate enough about any one thing to dedicate most of your time to it, you may never excel like a pro, and that may not be your goal. But you can still enjoy making steady progress.

Inevitably, it is in trying many things over time that we discover — and create — greater gifts, goals and passons.

What Steal Our Dreams

One thing is evident: as enjoyable and relaxing as it may be to regularly indulge in favorite shows, rarely do we discover and develop ourselves there. So in the end, looking back, what will you want to be sure to have accomplished?

Go do more of that now, in the present. If you can’t do “it”… then work on the steps toward it. Set daily goals and follow that with daily actions and you’ll be on your way.

“Change positive intentions to positive actions.”
