80 Quotes on Fear to Help Alleviate Yours

Quotes on Fear - no storm lasts forever. #QuotesOnFear #FearQuotes #Courage #Positivity #FocusOnThePositive

It’s time for a daily dose of quotes on fear to help diffuse it. Fear saps creativity and induces stress, and usually, it’s over things we can’t change and imaginings that never happen.

When it comes to fearful events, it’s very hard not to be afraid of unknown and alarming circumstance. During emergencies and challenges, we need our wits—and our humanity—about us more than ever. However, fear cripples and constricts, blocking creativity.

Creating, even when we don’t feel like it at first, begins to dissolve constricting fear and negativity. Why? Because creativity expands us, fear and negativity contract us.

Panic and fear reduce creativity and resourcefulness.

Holding onto fear of what might happen is only helpful for thoughtful preparation. After that, we must let it go for peace of mind and a greater ability to move.

If you wish to go straight to fear quotes, scroll on down to that heading. Otherwise, you may glean additional insights from this short intro article on fear.

Elevate Your State

Amidst the fears and uncertainties pulsating alarmingly through the body of humanity right now, please consider elevating yourself and those around you. Focus on gratitude, beauty, positivity and prudence, for these have the power to diffuse fear.

If the worst case scenario were to happen next week, or in a month, there’s nothing we can do about it. However, one thing is for certain, we can change our reaction to it and the story of what that does to us. More importantly, we can literally choose to let go the fear through acceptance of what is.

Put the Power of Suggestion to Work for You

Numerous studies have revealed that the human brain and autonomic nervous system are wired to react more strongly to negative images, words and events than to positives.

This probably comes as no surprise. If you’re an author with a published book and you have 99 five star reviews on your book and one, one star review, guess which one takes up the bulk of attention in your brain? That’s right… the ONE negative review becomes all consuming.

Our animal brains are wired to focus on the negative because to that ancient lizard brain, focusing on the negative could help keep us alive. But in today’s fast paced world and negative news, our ancient brain is still functioning in the past.

“The extent to which we live in the past is the extent to which we limit our future.”
~LeAura Alderson, cofounder-iCreateDaily.com®

What’s in a Word?

You’re sure to remember this old children’s rhyme:

Sticks and stones may break my bones
But words shall never harm me.

This old saying helps children learn an important lesson about what we allow to affect us. However, it’s not entirely true.

The Power of Words

It turns out that words alone can actually alter our brain chemistry which can alter our thoughts, hormones, feelings, and sense of well being for better or for worse. This reveals the power and importance of focusing on positives.

The challenge we all face is the biological wiring that we are evolving through that cause negative words to be more powerful than positive words. Negatives activate and charge up our neural networks more rapidly and extensively than positive words.

Negative words are the storm that blocks the light of reason and positivity, and can lead to stress, anxiety and even panic attacks.[1]https://experts.umn.edu/en/publications/bad-is-stronger-than-good The more our attention is besieged the more power the negative has and the larger it looms.

Dwelling in that vicious cycle turns the storm into a hurricane. When we’re caught up in the storms of life it can be hard to remember the sun. We’ve likely all had the experience of taking a flight that pierced through a cloud blanketed sky. To suddenly be above the storm in a blue and sunny sky can be a tremendous transition.

That plane took tremendous energy to lift off the ground and fly free of gravity and clouds. Similarly, it can be extraordinarily challenging to break out of,

As the storm rains upon us, we cannot ignore the elements, so we take cover. The severity of the storm and our mental conditioning determine the degree to which the storm impacts us.

Let’s batten the hatches against fear, not each other.

THE SERENITY PRAYER

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

~Karl Paul Reinhold Niebuhr, theologian, 1892-1971

Sanity and Sanctity

For your sanity, and the sanctity of your life, let go the fear and proceed with a focus on the future you’re crafting into existence, by the thoughts you hold, the actions you take and the things you make.

There is no point in dwelling on an unknown and uncertain future, the worst of which may or may not unfold. There is no benefit, but much detriment in giving way to the grip of fear.

We are creating our reality in the present moment.

The more positivity we set in motion the less the darkness holds sway.

For powerful tools for transforming fear and any challenge, give the boot to stinking thinking!

Acceptance Diminishes Anguish

It’s inevitable to be concerned and afraid. It’s normal for our stress hormone (cortisol) levels to rise and make it harder to relax.

But here’s the thing: while this is normal, it will not serve us. Fear of the unknown and uncertainty about what’s going to happen leads us into tighter knots of anxiety which can lead to incredible stress and panic. These emotions all shut down our highest and best states when we need that most..

The childhood lesson of not crying over spilt milk is applicable here. We can’t change what has happened, so to dwell in the past we cannot change, and to worry about a future we can’t know for sure, is emotional and mental anguish. These will not serve you.

Practice Peace

What will serve you, is to practice peace by focusing on gratitude for the good that is also in your life and in the world. Instead of sending fear coursing through your body, fill it with the peace of acceptance.

For whatever is, will not change by our not accepting it.

We do the best we can with what is, and then what is, gets better because our state of mind is better, no matter the outcome.

By focusing on the positives—the joys that are present—and identifying all the multitude of little things for which to be grateful, we flood our bodies with healing and resilience.

When we let go of what isn’t, we’re free to see the good that is.
