Our understanding of and relationship with our sense of purpose evolves and grows as we do. So it’s a good idea to periodically check in with ourselves through such orienting questions as we go through the journey of life.
Your purpose in life begins with your deciding and creating it. Because… who else is more qualified than you to decide that for yourself?
Goal Setting is Purpose Making
If you have no sense of your purpose, you can begin that journey of discovery by steadily incorporating purpose questions in your daily routines, such as, “What is my purpose today?” And in your short and long term goal setting, such as “What is my purpose this week.” And, “What are my goals this month?”
Goals give us a destination to steer by and put us in the habit of focusing on purpose. It is in living our life that purpose is revealed to the receptive and inquiring mind.
Our task is to keep reorienting to that aspiration while remaining open and receptive to discoveries along the way. Think of it as an adventure on the journey of life. When we travel, we’re open to seeing and experiencing new things. Take the traveler’s mindset with you wherever you go and purpose will increasingly reveal itself to you.

If you’re here reading this now, chances are you’ve asked this question at least once. That’s a good thing. If you don’t yet have the answer, that doesn’t matter. What matters is that you’ve set yourself on the journey of discovery by asking now, and that you keep on asking.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t yet know your purpose. What matters is that you’re asking the question and on the journey to finding out. By consciously being on that journey and asking that question, you will discover increasingly refined answers, that will evolve over time as you do.

Why Versus What
Purpose is a usually a why, rather than a what. If your purpose is to create… to be a conscious creator, chances are the medium of your creation—the what—will change and evolve more over time than your purpose of creating.
One thing about creativity is that it rarely sticks to just one medium. Consider successful actors, who’ve gone on to become directors and producers, or singers who’ve gone on to become actors, and vice versa.
Ron Howard is one of our favorite actors turned directors and now he’s also teaching through the Master Class program. Madonna created herself and her career as a singer-songwriter. Savvy business woman and marketer that she is, she’s now making a name for herself as an excellent actor.

Discover Your Life Slogan
What is the slogan of your life? Do you have one? Have you ever thought about it? Identifying a life slogan for each stage of your life can be fun.
Some people choose a theme to focus on each year. But you can begin to identify a defining life slogan by asking these questions:

Start a Purpose Journal
Toward beginning to get to know yourself, you could start a ‘purpose journal’ by making a list of people, places and things that inspire you. That which inspires you gives you clues as to that which is within you that is responding to those things.
Below is a list of questions that will help you in your purpose of life discoveries, especially if you take the time to journal around one per day.
Some of these may take multiple pages to answer, and some less than one. When there are multiple pages, you may wish to spread that across several days of journaling. There’s no right or wrong answer… it’s all about you discovering you.
