If you’re procrastinating doing the work you need to do, chances are that it is not the work of your heart… that which lights you up and kindles your creative fires. Or, it could be that you haven’t yet committed to doing the hard stuff.
To create is an active event requiring energy. To consume is easier because it’s a passive event.
It’s easier to come home from work and plop down to dinner and favorite shows than to settle into creating. However that which requires ore of us… which draws from the inner well of the creative spirit, is that which feeds our capacity to create more.
It’s getting into the water that we can swim, so sometimes you have to take the plunge to get in the flow. A swim in the sea of creativity is exhilarating, so dive in!

To achieve your goals is to set up a daily and weekly rhythm for doing your art. You need to be willing to pay the price of doing the work. Remember, these are YOUR goals for you. Not someone else’s. If you’re not willing, then it’s not important enough.
And… schedule it, because ‘what gets scheduled gets done‘.

Show up for Yourself
This is a simple truism. If you’re working for someone, you show up. Now it’s time to work for yourself. Even if you still have a full time job, in order for the work of your heart to become your full time job—if that is your aspiration—you must show up for yourself.
This is important even if your creative passion is hobby rather than a job. To follow your heart, requires that you make the time and space in your life for it, and commit to it.
My 84 year old mother has signed up for a Thursday night painting class for many years now. She does it not for the instruction, but to secure her in her commitment to paint.
